For many visitors to Croatia, holidays there wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the stunning beauty of Rovinj.

This is just one of those locations that has to be seen rather than described. The ancient town with its red-roofed houses juts out on a promontory into the impossibly blue sea.

If you’re a discerning traveller though, Croatia as a destination has far more to offer than just pretty views. Some of the hotels and accommodation in and around Rovinj stand in favourable comparison with the very best anywhere in the world.

Just a few highlights of what you might find there are given below.

Island Hotel Katarina

Try as hard as you like, you won’t find many better views than that available from this beautiful hotel located on a small island directly opposite the old town across the water.

The views are so breathtaking that you might be forgiven for not thinking much about the hotel’s other facilities – but it has them aplenty including beaches, beautiful parkland, a wide range of sports and marvellous dining in oak-beamed traditional restaurants.

Hotel Monte Mulini

This is a five-star boutique hotel where nothing has been left to chance as far as guest comfort is concerned.

There are just over 100 rooms and suites, each one crafted to perfection. Sitting directly on the coast, it has a wellness and Zen spa in-house. If you’re looking for a stress-relief break in Croatia, holidays here are what you need.

Amarin Resort

Located just 4kms outside of the centre of Rovinj, this resort location has pools that look over the ocean.

The emphasis here is on relaxation and family integration. Activities are a big selling point, including options as diverse as waterpolo, Zumba, massage, windsurfing, canoeing, hiking, cycling, diving and mini golfing. You won’t find yourself bored in this charming resort!

Hotel Arupinum

If you’re visiting Croatia, holidays in this small beautiful boutique hotel will be ideal if you’d like to get away from the regular hotel complex scene.

Offering only 20 elegant rooms, this property is a short walk along the coast from the town centre and offers intimacy in the ultimate of modern luxury.

The Lone Hotel

A larger hotel with over 200 rooms, this hotel looks at first glance like something out of a futuristic Sci-Fi film but don’t be misled. Here the emphasis is on 21st century luxury and the ultimate in facilities. It has striking décor and excellent service.

It has a very well-equipped wellness centre and offers a range of sporting activities.

As always, in Croatia, holidays at peak season can mean a heavy demand for the best hotels, so book early if you can.
