Community Events

Oftentimes, the most successful fundraisers are ones that involve the community. This will make people want to help, as they likely realize how amazing this experience can be. You might do something like a car wash. This is useful, simple to put together, and something nearly anyone can get involved with.

Plan Ahead

As with most things, it’s best to plan ahead. This helps ensure your fundraising attempts are organized and likely to go well. This also gives you time to advertise your fundraiser and get the word out there. Figure out what you want to do, where you’re going to do it, and how you’re going to make it happen. The more you plan ahead, the more successful your fundraiser is likely to be.

Silent Auctions

Not only can these be incredibly fun, they can bring in a lot of money. Have students put together themed baskets. You can also ask local businesses if they would be willing to donate something for the auction. You may find that many of them are willing to offer coupons or gift certificates not only to help your cause, but also to get their name out there. Your silent auction is a great chance for people to get together, as well. People are often willing to bid a lot of money if it means they have a chance of winning a prize. As long as you have decent prizes, this is something that is bound to go well.

Garage Sale

Can you imagine how much money you could make if all of your students donated items for a garage sale? Student trips to Washington DC could be paid for with a successful garage sale. The trick to this is making it as organized as possible. Your school gym is likely the perfect place to have it. Have students bring items, and also let the community know you are accepting donations. Go through the donations and make sure you only put things in nice condition in your sale. You may be surprised at how much you wind up receiving.
