Whether you want to up-size to a bigger boat or get rid of one that’s taking up space in your driveway, selling a boat can be a challenge. If you’re wondering how to sell your boat quickly, here are 4 ways to make it easier.

Advertise

The best way to bring in buyers is to advertise in as many ways as possible. Take advantage of websites that advertise boats for sale in Ohio along with other sites like Craigslist. Post pictures of your boat on your Facebook page and ask friends to share. Take out an ad in your local newspaper as well. Put up flyers with your boat’s picture and your contact information in your grocery store, around your neighborhood, and anywhere else people are likely to see it.

Clean Your Boat

Let’s face it--no one wants to buy a boat that looks obviously used. Give your boat a good scrubbing and a new coat of paint if necessary. Buyers will appreciate a boat that still looks shiny and new.

It’s just as important to clean all your nonessential gear out of the boat. Not only will it give your boat a tidier appearance, it will help make your storage areas look roomier as well.

Get a Tune-Up

If your boat is acting finicky, it will scare most buyers off or drastically reduce the price you’ll get for it. Give your boat a tune-up to make sure it’s running smoothly. Take it out on the water yourself to look it over top to bottom for issues that might cause a buyer to hesitate.

Go for a Test Run

Selling a boat is a lot like selling a car: buyers are most likely to fall in love once they’re on a test drive. Once your boat is in tip-top shape, invite potential buyers out onto the water with you. Once they start getting attached to the boat, they’ll be more likely to buy.
