If you have a business idea for a website or an app, should you hire an in-house developer or an agency that will take care of all your development needs. Let’s face it, there was a time (say in high school) that you’ve probably realized you don’t have what it takes to become a professor of mathematics. For instance, say you are good at solving the most basic math problems, but you realize that there are some of the steps and logics that don’t really make sense to you – so you struggle with it – thus, you decide teaching math for a living wouldn’t be your forte. Accordingly, writing software is similar in that sense. Likewise, there are some aspects of programming that may be too hard for you, and thus you may have no choice but to hire an experienced Microsoft Access 2013 programmer. The challenge lies in finding a good programmer that can overcome all obstacles during the programming phase.

Cheap work for cheap developer:

So, if you hire a developer who is under 100 dollars an hour, chances are he or she can take more time to complete the software – ending up costing you more time and money. However, if you hire a developer who charges you 100 + dollars and hour, chances are he or she may be able to complete the programming in due time, ending up saving you time and money. Certainly, this logic is now making sense for you.

The personality of a good developer:

Generally, a good developer cares about his craft. He or she enthusiastically attends developer meetup and other similar event such as hackathons. Look for a developer who is keen on learning new programming languages and has a deep interest in becoming a software architect. Someone who isn’t very keen on learning new languages shouldn’t be hired, they are in for the money and are not committed to learning new things and challenges. They should also be interested in maintaining best practices and following through with them. Next, a good developer is in tune with your business needs, can understand the problems you are facing and how to overcome those problems.

Can you really find a good developer online?

If you are looking for a short answer, then the answer is ‘No’. Why? Because good developers don’t need to find work, work finds them. Most competent developers are constantly working on something and are likely to advertise their services. Likewise, your best option in such a scenario is outsource your work to development firm that hires these developers. This will also ensure that you have some sort of guarantee that your work will turn out how you expected, as these outsourcing agencies are dedicated to listening to their customers and providing the right solutions.
