Shopping at the Fairy Garden Boutique

When I think about the different ways I can share my miniature gardening passion with my friends and loved ones, I am inspired with new ideas that pop into my head. My latest inspiration originated on the tails of a baby shower thrown for my older cousin. I come from a very large family; my grandparents on my mother's side had eight children, and all of their kids had at least three children each! I have numerous cousins and second cousins, and we are all very close. Due to this, I have spent many weekends driving up north to celebrate baby showers, wedding showers, anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, and holidays. We have become experts in throwing parties to celebrate and support one another. Many times when I begin to plan my next miniature garden, I base the design on my favorite childhood memories spent with my oversized brood. Our family members are known for having celebrations with a competitive angle, as we all like to play games and we all like to win. At the conclusion of our activities, we pass out grab bags of prizes to those that emerge victoriously.

The grab bags we make are filled with items purchased in the dollar section of the store - such as candles, note cards, and desk calendars. These objects are typical oohed and aahed over, then promptly stuck into a drawer at the winner’s home and forgotten about until another prize is hidden away. As a receiver of a box of notecards at my cousin's shower, I realized that we needed to update our grab bags and give something, unlike anything we have done before. We could shop at an online boutique that wraps up each item and sends it to us in a colorful bag with pink tissue paper. In some specialty stores, the employees select miniature accessories and create kits, which are essentially pre-made fairy garden, gift bags. It occurred to me that the gift bags could be the winners' prizes at our next family gathering. We may even wrap up a fairy house as the grand award!

Some of my favorite boutique options include ‘Crazy about Fishing,' which is a kit of multiple miniature accessories including a red canoe, a fishing pole sticking out of one side with a fish dangling off, a loon, and a little-spotted dog sitting on the seat. It will be a cute gift, any Midwesterner would love and appreciate, as a cool addition to their existing indoor or outdoor planters, especially as they begin collecting miniature accessories. I also really enjoy the ‘Look what is Sprouting,' which is a mound of grass with multi-colored mushrooms popping out of the ground. This quaint addition to an existing green space, makes the container a focal point of your home. My absolute favorite due to its whimsical nature has to be ‘Ocean Wonders’; it is half a clamshell with blue stones resting on the bottom and a blonde mermaid propped up on a large pearl. When planning a miniature garden, you will find all of these items in the fairy garden boutique's collection. It is a special treat to have your miniature accessories wrapped in tissue and placed inside a bag before being shipped to you, thus making this purchase a great gift bag at your next party or a treasured gift for yourself!
