What Are WaterJet Bricks?
Posted: Nov 06, 2017
WaterJet bricks are used in the manufacturing industry as a substrate for cutting and shaping parts for the waterjet cutting process. It provides a stable platform that can support the material to be cut and allows for a cleaner work surface while keeping the material clear of water and debris as it is etched or sliced.
A WaterJet brick is made from high density polyethylene or HDPE material, which is lightweight and very strong. HDPE can support a substantial weight while being resistant to compression. This plastic material uses a laminated flute pattern that allows water and cut debris through via fluted holes—a design that provides a number of useful benefits. The holes and corrugated surface of the WaterJet brick allows the passage of water and debris and minimizes splashback from the waterjet while it drains the effluent quickly. This allows for a cleaner work surface and a finer, more precise cut. The holes efficiently drain debris away from the material surface and prevent "frosting," which is the buildup of cuttings that can inhibit visibility or even damage the material being cut. The fluting and corrugated patterns on a WaterJet brick are very small, so they help prevent small parts from falling into the catch tank while providing adequate drainage. HDPE plastic is durable and corrosion proof, making it ideal for working with WaterJet cutting systems. These types of plastic are also lightweight, coming in at around 11.4 lbs. per brick. This makes them easy to handle. HDPE WaterJet bricks come in modular sizes, so they should likewise be easy to replace in case of damage or excessive wear.
Many plastic companies specializing in honeycomb plastic products provide WaterJet bricks as well as other plastic substrate materials and composite panels. They use a variety of materials such as HDPE, PVC and polyurethane to create honeycomb cores, substrates, and even composite sandwiches for use in the manufacturing and construction industry. The use of plastic materials provides lightweight and corrosion proof solutions for a variety of applications in manufacturing, as in the case of WaterJet bricks, and for soundproofing or lightweight construction for use in buildings, vehicles, cladding and other purposes.
About The Company
Anhui Pentapur Composites Co., Ltd was established in 2007 in China, and is located in Xuanzhou industrial park, Anhui Province. They are one of the leading manufacturers of honeycomb machines and raw materials such as honeycomb core, panels, honeycomb composites and sandwich. They follow honeycomb bionic principles to construct honeycomb plastic sheets by the honeycomb core material. They also produce composite machinery that include the CFRTP Strip production line, CFRTP composite laminating line, and polyurethane foam filled PP honeycomb. They structure built using PP Honeycomb core material are usually light-weight, resistant to corrosion, waterproof, eco-friendly, and recyclable.
