Catered chalets are a great option for groups of friends looking for comfort and convenience in the mountains. With food ready when you wake up and when you get home, catered accommodation is perfect for laser-focused skiers who don’t want to miss a minute on the slopes. It is also fun for groups in search of shared living space and the comradery that goes with it.

In holiday packages with catered chalets, food and wine are included with flights, transport and accommodation. The type of food you can expect depends on where you stay, but is usually local alpine cuisine that’s made with fresh ingredients. Breakfast will be ready when you wake up, usually consisting of sausages, eggs and cheese, but vegetarian if you request it. After a day on the slopes, return to some afternoon tea, followed later by a dinner that’s been cooked to order. The menu can vary, but if you put in a request a few days in advance, the chef can usually adapt it for you.

There are also a wide variety of lodgings that cater from two people all the way to 20 guests. Generally, the more guests, the cheaper per head, but this is not always the case. As well as size, chalets vary in service with some specifically designed for families, some for luxury and others for traditional atmosphere.

The Best Catered Chalets in the Alps

Chalet Sonne, Maria Alm, Austria – This cute chalet has two double rooms as well as a triple and a quad. The interior is made almost entirely of wood; it’s on the walls, on the floors and in the sauna, which is a great place to relax with friends after a game of table tennis. The ski slopes are reachable via a shuttle bus service, which stops just 300m away from the accommodation.

Chalet Martina, Westendorf, Austria – This large chalet sleeps 26 and has access to the Brixental-Kitzbüheler Alpen ski area. It’s also close to some nice bars and pubs in the nearby city of Innsbruck, so there is always an opportunity to meet people. The décor is pine-themed, warming the soul on cold nights.

Chalet Bianca, Bardonecchia, Italy – The Bianca is modern and colourfully decorated. It sleeps up to 18 guests and the vibrant Italian staff strive to ensure that guests are exceptionally well-fed at all times. Located in the Bardonecchia resort, the 140km of pistes are sure to generously satisfy your skiing needs.

Chalet Nadine, La Plagne, France – Catered chalets are everywhere in La Plagne. At the centre of Montchavin, one of ten villages in the ski area, the Nadine has room for 13 skiers. With plenty of living space and a hot tub, basing your group here means skiing in style.

Chalet Elliot West, La Tania, France – The Elliot is an example of a traditional chalet experience, offering premium accommodation. Both wings of the building are armed with a hot tub for the enjoyment of the eight guests on either side. As it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the ski lifts, the location is also fantastic.

And there you have it: five catered chalets that guarantee an amazing Alpine adventure. What are you waiting for?
