Technology is that one aspect that is growing and evolving with each passing day. While the developers and programmers are coming up with the latest technology every other day, the implementation of the same has been on the surge. Every sector and industry is transforming their operations to implement these technologies for a better and streamlined process. The national highways in India are not an exception to this.

Mr Akhilesh Srivastava, CGM (IT and Highway Operations) of NHAI is working day in and day out to ensure the very best for the improvement and development of the highway operations in India. His main vision is to operate a completely tech-enabled system for real-time results and better transparency in the highway sector. He is working to develop such systems and is often regarded as the "one-time project delivery man of India" because of his efficiency in delivering the projects on time.

Owing to these immense number of achievements and contributions, Mr Srivastava was recently awarded the Achievement Award in the Public officer category in the 10th Vishwakarma Awards conducted by the Construction Industry Development Council on March 07th, 2017 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. He primarily received this award for his initiatives concerning the projects of e-Tender, e-MB, Wayside Amenities and Electronic Toll Collection. He has emphasised on the fact that he is working to ensure that there is at least one lane in every toll plaza dedicated to the electronic toll collection. The work is in progress and much like his execution of the past projects, he expects to nail this one within a short period of time.

Mr Akhilesh Srivastava is currently working on the Road Assets Management System and Traffic Incident Management System. They are still in the budding stage and the projects are in the works as of now. He is also working on introducing drones and other geospatial technology into the highway operations. This is expected to ensure real-time monitoring of the ongoing highway projects with ease.

Mr Srivastava’s vision to integrate technology in every aspect of road and highway monitoring is paving way for a transparent and a much streamlined real-time monitoring of the ongoing projects. This is one of the reasons why officials pay heed to his proposals and work on the same. These projects proposed by him, including the drone and geospatial technology in the highway and traffic monitoring is going to ensure a better work process along the national highways and provide with faster ways of mitigation, in times of need.

Apart from this all, Mr Akhilesh Srivastava is also expected to attend the 4th Annual Roads and Highways summit where he was invited by the International Road Federation of Geneva. The event is going to be held from April 09th – April 11th 2018 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore.
