Why southwest decor is an important design trend

Southwest Decor 101"Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness." When I was a little girl I wanted to be a dancer, singer, actress. I’ve always had this spark for art in multiple ways. I paint, draw, color, etc. Art has always moved through me, came naturally. It’s something I not only feel, but is who I am. Every flake of skin is like the flake of a brush on a canvas. When I was four years old my parents remodeled my room, well started it at least. I remember being four and walking into the room stripped to its studs and having the whole room come together in my head. I helped my dad build the room. I came up with most of the decorating ideas.

As I got older, I got more and more ideas about how I wanted my room to look and feel. Some ideas due to my eyes being bigger than the space were not always achievable. It took nine years for my room to be "finished", and to be honest it changes every year. I don’t think it will ever be fully finished. The room grows up as I grow up. Throughout my life I’ve wanted to be many things, but one thing has stayed prominent throughout the years is my need for helping people and wanting to give people with little or nothing a better life or at least a beautiful space. Growing up we didn’t have a lot of money that’s why my room took so long to be finished.

I’ve always been fascinated with houses.

Every house I walk into I want to explore the whole thing, see every room. As I walk through a house, I not only see the people for who they really are, but I also see design in my head. Everything comes together in my head; the colors, the furniture, the accents, everything. Interior design comes to me like nothing else I’ve ever known before. It’s the one true thing I feel in my soul that I want to do for the rest of my life. For years I have struggled with this decision because I have been told that I won’t make any money, that I should choose something more practical. This is the one thing I love. I walk into a space and automatically I’m fixing it in my head whether it needs to be fixed or not.

For the past three years a quote has stayed with me, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I know two things for sure, one I love interior design and two I want to help people. I needed a way to combine these two things. One day I was laying in my room and looking around. I kept thinking how my room is the exact version of me. By this I mean when someone walks into my room they are walking into my head.

Everything about my room is me, it’s my calm space, It’s the place I go when the rest of the world is falling down around me, It’s the one place where I can breathe. I want to give these feelings to other people. I want to own an interior design business. I will own one! It won’t be pricey or upscale. It will be one business where we get to know our customers, and most importantly a place where our customers get to know themselves, so they too can have their own places to breathe.
