As time passes, we witness the habit of book reading diminish. Today, a child’s first toy is an iPad or an android tablet where they start their initial upbringing from. Playing virtual games on electronic devices might be fascinating to the children but it is doing very less for the better development of your child.

If you want your child to develop into a sharp, knowledgeable and an intelligent human being in the future, develop a reading habit in them. And with this reading habit, I do not mean reading your daily Facebook posts, tweets or the ingredients on a milk pack. If you want a better nurturing of your child, establish a book reading habit in them.

Fast learning and children development

A child starts his/her learning process from the first day of their birth. Children have a rapid learning process and are capable of learning whatever you teach them. Reading children books to preschoolers gives them a head start and helps them to develop reading skills for the time when they start to read. Reading books is not only important for children to survive in the academic environment but also plays an important part in their future researches and everyday life.

Strong minds

Reading books can open your mind to new worlds and insights of a happy life, life lessons and other knowledge about the world. A book is like a friend since childhood which talks to your child and tells them new stories about the world every day. Reading books can help your child stimulate a thinking process- an exercise for your child’s brain to keep it healthy. A book teaches your child to concentrate on certain things as they focus on words and try to read and comprehend them. A child who is a reader since adolescence is more imaginative and creative as they try to picture things in their minds about what they read.

Empathy and coexistence

Children who read books start developing emotions at an early stage as they think of themselves as a part of the story and feel what the characters feel. Children learn about different parts of the world through books and get to learn about different ethnicities, cultures, and people. This teaches them about the living style of people, their behavior, and diversity which helps them in coexistence and develops a sense of interethnic harmony.

Better communication skills

Reading helps children to develop social skills. The reading process brings confidence in children. As they acquire more knowledge, it makes it easy for them to communicate with people and portray this knowledge in their conversations. Reading books improves a child’s vocabulary and help them learn new words. When you talk to your child, you use limited vocabulary, but books are a plethora of new words. Books help your child to improve their memory as children try to remember the characters, history, and background of the books they read.

Skill advancement

Books strengthen analytical thinking skills of children as they read books and try to analyze and sort out different mysteries in the books and try driving out conclusions using their cognitive skills. Your child tends to get better writing skills as they grow up as they have been reading different types of sentences in their childhood and they possess a vast vocabulary.

Better at academics

Your child would develop calmness in them once they start reading as they sit down and relax with books. Your children will become curious about new things and this will stimulate learning. Your children will develop literacy skills and language development earlier than other age mates. Reading books will result in appreciation for art in your child’s mind. Children who are readers have a thirst for knowledge which makes them do better in all subjects.

Books are hoards of knowledge which makes your child become socially aware of their rights and duties while being a part of the society. They are most likely to become better human beings who value and respect other fellow beings and readers are said to be more patient and calm people. Above all, books are the best entertainment, so you can watch your favorite season while your child reads his book – no disturbance!
