The Door Furniture & Frame

Handles become greasy and looks dingy. These can be cleaned with a damp cloth and soapy water. The inside of the handles also needs attention. Metal furniture can be polished lightly once it is cleaned.

Dirt and grease from hands get collected in door frames as they are being extensively used. The whole frame is to be wiped down with a damp cloth. The bottom of the upvc frame gets ingrained with dirt from people walking on it. Very rough damp cloth or a scrubbing pad can clean this area. The dust over the top of the frame can be removed with a dry cloth. Difficult areas and stubborn marks will benefit from the use of warm, soapy water.

The Door & Rails

The edge of a sliding glass door is often used as a handle, so make sure to wipe both edges carefully with a damp cloth. The frame also needs to be cleaned. Sliding French window generally run on a central rail at the bottom of the frame, and the accumulated dirt in the rail can affect the smooth opening of the doors. Wiping the rail is sufficient, but occasionally you can go over it with a slightly oily cloth. A vacuum cleaner can be used to remove the dirt that falls along and either side of the rail.

Glass

The glass can be cleaned with a mild detergent and water mixture. The mixture needs to be too weak to produce bubbles. With a soft cloth scrub the glass and use newspaper to dry it. Newsprint absorbs the moisture and also removes any scum layer that might have been left providing a glossy look.

If there are fingerprints and smears on the glass even after this treatment, a strong mixture of white vinegar and water applied with chamois leather should successfully remove all the marks. The shine of your item should return by drying with newspaper.
