Wildlife Safari Growing Tourism Sector in India

Tourism all over the World is categorized as per the potential of the destinations. Hence there are a large number of niche holiday destination that cater to mind boggling number of tourists. There are some places that are key tourism spots in the World.
India is the land of the tiger and is home to more than fifty percent of the population. Most popular destinations are the tiger reserves and National Parks for wildlife safaris. Though safaris are most popular in Africa and India other countries have much to offer as well. This form of recreation is popular in USA, Africa, India, Sri Lanka, South America and many small Asian countries which harbor endemic mammals and birds. Due to complex diversity of habitats India has more mammalian and bird species than Africa which is a much larger continent.
Animals like the Bengal Tiger are seen in India with greater success. A large number of endemic and rare mammal species are found in the country in the protected areas. Hence tourism is increasing in this country especially doing well is the wildlife sector. Birding is increasing in India as well since World’s 13 percent species can be check listed on tours. Northern India and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary situated in Rajasthan are more popular among birders. The recreation is becoming popular in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Eastern State and South in Kerala and Western Ghats.
The diverse species of avian inhabiting various regions have started to attract birders to these less visited destinations now. The prime attraction in the country is the tiger but tourists are slowly realizing the immense biodiversity prevailing in the country. Hence major mammals like Asiatic Lion in Gir, Rhino in Assam, Wild Elephant in Corbett Tiger Reserve, Bison in Kanha and the endemic species that thrive in Southern India are enhancing tourism and making the activity holistic.
Eastern India is home to the red panda, clouded leopard, hoolock gibbon, golden langur, rhino and Himalayan bear which is making the wildlife sanctuaries and National Parks very popular. In North India at Ladakh one can see the snow leopard which is an elusive animal and requires days to see one. This is a high altitude cold desert also home to the wild ass. Bird watching too is gaining ground here especially among enthusiasts from overseas. As a matter of fact bird species are spread from Trans Himalayas to Southern India with more than one thousand two hundred plus species. The amazing biodiversity supports amazing life forms small or big. Hence attracts wide variety of tourists from holiday makers to researchers to India.
It is the wildlife safari that are more popular in India. The greatest attraction is the tiger followed by the leopards, bears and wild elephants. Bird watching is on the increase as well and many niche tour operators organize ornithological tours. The package tours offer trips to many wildlife destinations in India. Madhya Pradesh is most popularly visited for tiger tourism in the state. While Bharatpur is popular for wetland birds’ places like Corbett, Sat Tal and Pangot offer more than three hundred species to be seen on combined tour. More than six hundred species inhabit this belt in Uttaranchal State in Himalayan Foothills.
