Metal Cages: New Challenges Need New Solutions and New Design Logistics

At Daywalk (formerly Omni-tuff), we understand that solutions for design logistics we used in the 20th century, or even in the last decade, are no longer feasible in this decade, or other decades to follow. Each decade brings a new challenge or need for design logistics in every industry. So, whether for retention, storage, transport, rust prevention, or restraints, Daywalk is always up to the challenge to find new solutions, from metal cages, pallet cages, drilling tool baskets, to silica gel and strapping, and even more.

Queensland Container Deposit Scheme (Recycling Waste)

Daywalk was approached by Cleanaway to create a compatible cage design that was required by the Queensland Container Deposit Scheme within a tight deadline. The scheme would commence in November 2018 initiated by the Queensland Government for the state’s recycling efforts. Thus, Daywalk became engaged to create and manufacture steel recycling cages to transport beverage containers from the Container Refund Points to processing facilities, and anywhere within. Daywalk came out with a solution for custom recycling cages that guaranteed efficient and safe movement of beverage containers even when the containers had to be tipped over to remove its contents. Daywalk’s Steel Recycling Cages were delivered on time and to client specifications, including compatibility to existing equipment

Drive Assembly Transport Solution (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

The logistics division of a multinational industrial-drive equipment manufacturing company needed a solution for its complex logistics challenge to transport its drive assemblies. Daywalk had to figure out a sophisticated and universal system that could be safely placed on a sturdy platform that needed to be restrained, also given that the drive assemblies were of different sizes, weight, and have a high centre of gravity. There was also the problem of protruding base-mounted components that could not afford to be damaged.

The solution that Daywalk came up with used the company’s standard 3500x1500 steel pallet as a universal base, and the sensitive base components were protected using dunnage components lined with load-restraining rubber. The high centre of gravity was solved by using an adjustable clamping system and also served as restraints, instead of using expensive mounting plates.

Queensland Mackay Warehouse Upgrades (Mining and Resources)

The Hastings Deering Mackay Warehouse needed solutions for safety in restraining products stored at height. Not only did they need assurance that essential products and parts on warehouse racks would be safely restrained on pallets, but everything had to meet safe storage guidelines from the Queensland Government. Daywalk provided custom timber pallet collars as a cost-efficient and practical storage solution. These pallet collars are engineer-rated and modular that allow tailoring for a wide variety of parts to be stored, while maintaining safety and compliance across all storage operations.

Daywalk Solutions for All Industries

Since the company started in 1999 as Omni-tuff, Daywalk has always innovated its solutions towards the long-term future. Its commitment is to find solutions to every logistical challenge that comes its way. But not just any solution, because they need to last a long time and provide safe and effective operational reliability, such as its recycling metal cages, custom steel pallets, and custom pallet collars.
