No other automaker understands the Indian consumers as well as Maruti Suzuki. It was no wonder when Maruti came up with the Ertiga, a smart seven seater MPV, which is a perfect mix of a big car with a compact body! People nowadays want spacious cars to accommodate their entire family and luggage, but are not willing to part with the compactness, practicalities and affordability of hatchbacks. Ertiga was the perfect choice for these people. Also Check about Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno Price in India, visit: AutoPortal.com.

Take-off

Maruti Ertiga was launched in India on 12th of April 2012 in India. The car created a niche for itself in the market selling nearly 7000 units per month. The high demand resulted in long waiting period for the buyers. Maruti sold out one lakhs units of Ertiga within just seventeen months of its launch, which makes it the fastest seller in its segment.

2015 Face-lift

Soon new cars in the segment started overtaking the Ertiga in terms of sales and popularity and it became imperative for Maruti to keep the momentum flowing. Maruti revealed an updated version of the Ertiga MPV at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August 2015, and the same product is expected to come to India by the end of the year. In fact it is heard that the new Ertiga 2015 might come to the markets this month itself.

More on the updates

The new model is expected to be more fuel efficient than before. Ertiga 2015 will feature the same 1.4-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engines. However the diesel engine will also get the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki), which makes use of lithium ion battery. It would have been great if the new Ertiga came with an automatic gearbox, but there have been no updates on this till now.

A new triple-slat chrome grille, chrome highlights for the fog light enclosures, a new radiator grille, new front and rear bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels and new rear reflectors make up the exterior changes. New upholstery and floor mats, new colour patterns, audio and phone controls on the steering wheel, electrically adjustable and folding wing mirrors and a 50:50 split option for the last row of seats make the interior look more up-market. Dual front airbags will be offered as standard across all the trims. The top-of-the-line trim is also expected to come with Maruti’s SmartPlay touchscreen entertainment system.

Pricing

The current Ertiga is available in India between Rs 5.89-8.45 lakhs, a price very low for cars of this size. The hybrid model will be imported and therefore is pricier. But with the recent incentives given for hybrid and electric vehicles Maruti might be able to price it competitively in the market.
