The Clifton M. Brakensiek Library has assisted the people of Bellflower for more than 70+ years. The first division was opened on 11th of March in 1914. The library relocated 4 times till its present facility was finalized on 16th of August, 1975 and was named in the honour of Clifton M. Brakensiek, Masters of Degree, who made a great contribution by providing the land on which the library is built.

It functioned as the Automated Circulation System pilot location and was the first County library to make use of the new online circulation system in the year 1989. In 1915 there were 213 library cardholders and 412 books were there on the tables. The circulation for the year 1915 was 3,433. If we talk about today, then it has reached approximately 200,000 with 40,000 registered borrowers.

The library consists of 141,177 books for adults and children, 6,491 audio tapes, 7,550 video copies and 188 magazine and newspaper subscriptions containing English and Spanish language magazines, and local and national newspapers. Exceptional collections comprise of the R. D. Boggs Sheet Music Collection, flowing historical American flags, and a complete set of California Deerings' Codes. The Brakensiek Library provides a complete variety of services containing general reference support, online library catalogs that offer admission to the entire County Library assortment and to online reference records; public admittance Internet computers. Children's programs comprise of a Homework Center for children in ratings 3-6 and a Grandparents and Books program.
