TOEFL too is accepted as a language proficiency standard by most higher education schools in this country. For some exceptions, if you get a letter from your previous institution stating the high level of English language skills you possess, the need for IELTS and TOEFL can be skipped. For some university and course requirements you would also have to have a good GMAT score.

The thing to note is that students from countries like India, Pakistan etc. have to take IELTS test as a compulsory thing. Besides this if you have a good GRE score then you can attach them with your application as well, but the universities do not necessarily require them very often. For masters level the work history, the letter of recommendations, the statement of purpose and the research proposal should be attached in an excellent condition.
