Best Engineering Colleges Other than IITs and NITs

Engineering is one of the most sought out careers in India. Every year students run the race to getinto one of the best engineering colleges. The IITs and NITs are the top ranked engineering collegs, however, there are other deemed universities aswell that provide excellent educational engineering facilities.

Here are some of the best engineering colleges in India other than the IITs and the NITs –

  3. BITS, Pilani

4. SRM University, Tamil Nadu

Most of these universities shortlist students on the basis of their JEE- Mains score while others conduct their own entrance exam. SRM university, VIT university and BITS, Pilani are some of the colleges that conduct their own entrance exam namely SRMJEEE, VITEEE and BITSAT.

The Application process for SRM university has already begin. Candidates interested in B.tech and MBA courses may apply. One can apply online on the official site of SRM. Last date for the submission of online application form is 15 March, 2016. Candidates who have applied for B.tech courses will have to appear for SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE) and those who have applied for MBA courses will have to take SRM Common Admission Test (SRMCAT).

Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized university or institute with minimum 60% marks are eligible to apply for SRMJEEE. There will be four sections in the test namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Candidates who have applied for the B.tech courses have to attempt the first three sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics while candidates applied for biotechnology programs have to attempt biology section instead of Mathematics.

Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% marks may apply for the MBA program. The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their SRM Common Admission Test (SRMCAT)/GMAT/CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ TANCET/CMAT valid score. The shortlisted candidates will then have to appear for GD & PI sessions. The final selection of the candidates will be based on the test score and the GD & PI score altogether.
