Teaching Extra-Murals Lessons for Children at Boys and Girls Clubs
Most children are very active, with boundless energy that needs to be expended to prevent them from growing restless and bored. An active child is also a healthy child, and by playing and doing activities, they are also actively learning and developing coordination and other important physical and mental skills. It is for these very reasons that most Boys and Girls Club have extra-mural activities. Even if your child's school does not offer all of the extra-murals listed below, it is definitely worth looking into some of the activities on a private basis if you believe that your children will enjoy them.
Arts and Crafts:Although not necessarily an energetic extra-mural, your kids will love doing arts and crafts. The best part of this activity is learning how to shape things, paint things and bring an idea to life. Many arts and crafts activities involve concentration and hand-eye coordination practice, which is invaluable to your child's development. Let's not forget how proud they will be of their artwork - something beautiful that they have made with their own two hands!
Drama Club:If you have a little thespian, he or she will revel in drama club. Most extra-mural drama Boys and Girls Club will involve rehearsing and putting on plays and performances. The benefit of drama class is that it teaches children to memorise their lines, their roles in the play, and also helps to build up their confidence. If your child is shy, make sure that you speak to him or her about whether they would truly enjoy the class. It can be terrifying for a shy child, or it can help bring them out of their shell. It all depends on each unique little soul.
Athletics:Athletics is a great way of covering a range of outdoor sports, including cross-country, sprinting, hurdles, shotput, javelin, long-jump, high-jump, and more, depending on the school. This is a great way in which to get your child running and active, while developing concentration and commitment at the same time.
Soccer:There aren't many little boys who don't love playing a bit of soccer. By taking part in extra-mural soccer, your child will get some good exercise and will learn the complex set of rules to get those brain muscles working too! Soccer isn't limited to boys - little girls can do it too! Just be sure to get your hands on some quality stain removing washing powder for all of those grass stains; of which there will be plenty!
Other wonderful extra mural activities that your kids can choose from include:
If you believe that your child will really enjoy an extra-mural, but they seem hesitant to try it, convince them to go for TopTenThingz In The Boys and Girls Club; and if they really don't enjoy it, don't push the matter any further. After all, you want them to enjoy the experience in order for them to give it their all. For those messy outdoor extra-murals, make sure that you always have the best stain remover on hand, because you'll need it to remove all of those persistent grass and dirt stains!
