Bull terriers as your pets
In an age of cross-breeds and resultant hybrids, how can the canine be left behind? Dogs are considered as the most favorite among pet-lovers. The Bull terrier, as the name is self-explanatory is the product of bull dog and a terrier. Bull dogs are preferred for their demeanour – tough and strong, whereas, the terrier was bred not for its looks, but for its agility and fighting spirit. The combination is the best dog you could have asked for!
In the days of pre-industrialization when agriculture was the main occupation, vermin and rats were the main threat to human food produced in farmlands. Terriers, descendants of the wolf family, were tamed and kept for controlling pests. They were also kept for blood games. Over the times as these games lost their legality, a pure terrier was pretty much not preferred. Bull dogs, though being friendly, are lazy by temperament. They are considered as a pet for their bonding with children and the members of the family. They are highly obedient and can be trusted with even a child of 1 year. Thus, the plan to cross-breed the Terrier with the Bull dog was hatched. The result - Bull Terrier Puppies.
Since then they are a very preferred breed for pets. The English Bull Terrier puppy is a combination of the sturdiness of a bull dog, the agility of a terrier, the ferociousness of a terrier and the faithfulness of a bull dog. The cross breed has shed its folds of skin, has strong and slimmer legs with the head being egg shaped. It has pointed ears unlike that of bull dog. Though a wonderful combination, it is still not the suggested one for first time dog owners. Its vivacity can, at times become a bit too much to handle. It would race up and down the house beyond the control of its owner. Though, no harm is intended but it is advisable to stay put in one place till this ‘fit of playfulness’ subsides lasting just a couple of minutes.
Though, it bonds well with children, still the English Bull Terrier did not inherit the genes of the bull dog in matters of complacency. They are easy maintenance with very thin coat of hair. One thing that needs to be kept in mind is to exercise the pet regularly. Since, it is a high activity breed and keeping it idle would make it mischievous. They may take a fancy to your furniture or your backyard leaving both in a tornado affected state. Anyone who desires a Bull Terrier for sale as a pet needs to keep in mind the health aspect as well - they are pretty prone to kidney, heart, eye, skin and ear problems.
