National parks are great places to take a holiday with excitement. The UK has recently opened a new national park called the South Downs which is located on the beautiful south coast of England. If you’re interested in a bit of action in the wilderness, the following is the top five national parks worldwide with loads of action, excitement and sweat.
Next on the list is land stuffed with stunning and famous parks, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in the United States is almost a secret, even to the residents of the U.S. This park is found along the states of Virginia and Maryland boards. At Chincoteague, you’ll find remote, sandy beaches which are best reached by bicycle and surrounded with bird life. Bike paths wind through remarkable landscapes, before reaching the coast where you can sit on a mile-long sandy beach staring out at the Atlantic.
Thirdly is New Forest, UK which is the ancient forest harks back to the time of William the Conqueror and was originally called Nova Foresta. New Forest ponies wander wild through the forest and on the tree-lined walks you may also come across deer, bats and all six native British reptiles. Taking a picnic is highly recommended as there are limited numbers of places to buy food on many of the more remote trails, although there are some excellent pubs to enjoy a bevy or two.
Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand is said to be the smallest national park’s which contains an abundant amount of opportunities for action-packed adventure from sea kayaking to guided walks. The park stretches over 23, 000 hectares with hiking trails as far as you can imagine to kayaking the beautiful waters. There are a couple of lodges available, if you want to stay inside the park overnight, as well as two or three day guided treks.
