Why Pele’s Biopic “Pele: Birth of a Legend” Is Most Anticipated?

To all football lovers, Pele is not just a retired footballer, instead, he is an inspiration, an influencer, and a leader who leveraged this game to an unmatched level. Pele is a global icon who lived his nascent years in the slums of Brazil. He is credited for winning three World Cup Titles in his career which no other player ever had in the soccer world. His skills and dedication made him witness the extraordinary glory of success in his career.

Prior to the screening of his biopic in New York, Pele said he would love to become like his father. "Pele: Birth of a Legend" is an inspirational rags-to-riches fiction-biopic, written and directed by two American brothers, Jeff and Michael Zimbalist. The biopic was first exhibited in Tribeca Film Festival and is scheduled to get released on 21 May’2016. It reconciles the events witnessing the rise of this superstar from poverty to accomplishing Brazil’s first ever World Cup in 1958. This was just the beginning of a glorious history.

The duo directors got famous with their famous football documentary "The Two Escobars," before were happy when Pele agreed to this biopic project. All the cast of this biopic; Kevin de Paula, Leonardo Lima Carvalho, Seu Jorge, Vincent D'Onofrio, Colm Meaney, Rodrigo Santino, Mariana Nunes, Diego Boneta have done justice to their roles. The story starts with a joyous 9-year-old young lad Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Leonardo Lima Carvalho) playing nonchalantly with his friends in the streets.

Seeing his country losing the 1950s World Cup Final, Dico promises his father who was a former football player, that he would one day win the World Cup for Brazil. The melodramatic scene is beautifully depicted in the movie. The boy, when turns 15, manages to get into a local football tournament along with his friends and comes out marking his presence in the game. Later he gets recruited by a local scout who trains him professionally to perform at state and national level. But soon conflicts began rooting between him and his coaches for his fluid playing style. He practiced till he got the supportive coaching of coach Vicente Feola (Vincent D'Onorio).

You’ll see a perfect dramatization of this movie in numbers demonstrating football tournaments. The commendable cinematography, football sequences, editing and photography sessions have surely set a record for other movies coming up in the same genre. Kevin de Paula Rosa meticulously did justice to the title role of Pele and would convincingly keep the audience spellbound till the end. The supporting cast too did a remarkable job including Colm Meaney as the British coach and Rodrigo Santoro (The 33) along with Seu Jorge (City of Gold) looks impressive as Brazilian stars. The impressive musical feat by Oscar-winning A.R. Rahman is stupendous. Hold on till the last if you want to see the most epic and winning scenes of this biopic. As in the end, you would see those ironic black and white footage of the World Cup match that Pele was part of.
