Buddha is the ninth avatar of Vishnu and he represents tranquility and peace. Also known as 'the enlightened one', Buddha was born in a royal family, yet he chose the life of renunciation to find the truth about life. His image is still worshiped and represented all over the world, but certain cultures would have their own depiction of how he looks like. Each version showcases a different aspect of Buddha's life, and each has its own specific requirements for placement. You can purchase Buddha statues in different sizes, usually ranging from a few inches in height to a few feet. They are typically made of metal or wood. Here are the different types of Buddha statues that you are likely to find online:

  1. The laughing Buddha: It symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and good luck. If you are buying this, make sure that you place it in the southeast area of the house. It has several variations, too. If you get one with children at his feet, place it at the west area of your house. A traveling laughing Buddha is suitable for an office, but it must be placed in the north part. A statue that depicts his spiritual journey must be placed on the southwest area for love and relationships, and on the northeast for education.
  1. Meditating Buddha: This particular Buddha statue is typically found in the Buddhist altars and it represents him when he meditated on the sun while seeking enlightenment. It symbolizes attention turned inward and must be placed facing the east where the sun rises.

  2. Blessing Buddha: A statue of this Buddha depicts him bestowing compassion and fearlessness. It is best displayed in the office or a den.
  1. Long life Buddha: It can be placed in different locations around your garden or home. It is said to bring wealth when placed in the southeast, children when placed in the west, and health when placed in the east.
  1. Teaching Buddha: Teaching was one of the most important aspects of his life. The hand placement depicts his teaching of the union of method and wisdom or the Wheel of Dharma.

  2. Happy home Buddha: This is another version of the laughing Buddha, but this time, he holds a parasol and the statue symbolizes relationships. It must be placed in the southwest area outside or inside the house.
  1. Reclining Buddha: This statue represents Buddha in his later years and it aids when transitioning from life to death.
