Well let’s be honest, it is pretty obvious what our preferred and proven quitting technique is and we truly believe it is the best solution. However, there are some other techniques – some medical and some rather strange – that could help you quit for good – and you may be surprised.

Of course, anything to do with your health shouldn’t be taken likely, so you must consult a doctor before trying any new techniques.

Here are some of the weird and wonderful techniques that have worked for worldwide quitters to become smoke-free for life.

Nicotine e Liquid: You can legally buy a prescription for use in e-cigarettes and personal vaporisers. The idea is that you simulate the act of smoking tobacco cigarettes but it does not involve the burning of tobacco. About $20 – $30 of nicotine liquid will last you 2 weeks and many have said it has led them down the path to quitting.

Baking Soda: It has worked for many, what you do is take a tablespoon of baking soda and stir it into a glass of water until it dissolves. Drink it twice a day for a week. If you still need a bit more help, then drink one a day for the following week. Strange, but does it really work?

Hypnosis: By directly influencing your subconscious mind, the idea is that you can affect your deep-rooted issues relating to smoking. However, it isn’t easy to be hypnotised – you must fully believe in the process and be fully committed to the session.

Herbal Products: There are some herbs such as lobelia, coltsfoot, mullein, mimosa, clove, primrose and chamomile, when used with other methods can aid quitting. Also Garlic and Ginger are known to pull smoking chemicals out of the body.

Acupuncture: This thousand-year-old remedy is based on vital energy, called "chi" flowing through 12 key channels in your body – each channel has at least 365 acupuncture points. Using thin needles placed on different points, it can help reduce the severity of cravings.

Psychology: As the psychological battle is often the reason for a relapse in most, working to find the deep route of why quitting seems impossible and working through solutions and ways to treat the craving triggers.

Laser Treatment: Special, painless lasers are focused on certain points on your body; this mimics the body’s reaction to nicotine and produces a calming, relaxing effect Placebo effect? Or very effective.

Meditation & Visualisation: Meditation is more popular than ever, and it can be used to get through tough cravings by visualising a physical version of your craving and seeing yourself beating it. Also based on the Law of Attraction – you can visualise yourself being a non-smoker, and it will be.
