Marcus Hiles - Philanthropy and Community Service

Author: Marcus Hiles

Many renowned business moguls have also contributed their funds and skills to charity, philanthropy, and social work. One famous mogul, Marcus Hiles, was raised by his father, an inner-city preacher, in a lower income family in Boston, Massachusetts. Relying on faith, education, and a diligent work ethic, Hiles eventually became the founder and head of Western Rim Properties, a billion-dollar real estate company. Despite his successes, Hiles and his wife, Nancy, contribute to charities and nonprofit organizations on a regular basis.

Due to his Christian upbringing, Hiles was inculcated to the importance of service to one’s community from an early age. His wife also believed that giving back, especially to those less fortunate, was simply a part of paying it forward. Even in college, before Marcus Hiles made his fortune, he and Nancy would often help the needy and disadvantaged people in their society, from donating furniture and clothes to contributing what extra funds they had at the time. Even after their financial status improved, the Hiles continued their dedication to helping those in most need of assistance.

The city of Forth Worth has been a particular benefactor of Hiles’ generous contributions. As one of the first locations in the state to benefit from the growth of Western Rim Properties, Fort Worth has long been a recipient of Hiles’ personal appreciation. For the last two decades, Hiles, his wife, Nancy, and his children have donated time at local soup kitchens, homeless shelters, tutoring programs, and other nonprofit agencies. As a longtime education advocate, Hiles has also funded inner-city afterschool programs, K-12 initiatives, created job placement and career service facilities, and purchased high-tech computer labs for the youth in the community.

Hiles has spent a considerable amount of time and money putting his own real estate skills to use in the development and construction of three new churches, two in Texas, and one in his home state of Massachusetts. The price of the three churches came to over $3 million dollars, and the funding was entirely provided by Hiles. He has also made known his desire to contribute further to the Christian church in assisting financially with building more churches in Texas.

A specific area of importance to Marcus Hiles is the protection and enlargement of the environment within and surrounding his real estate developments. Hiles requires that his developments both use and enhance the natural beauty of surrounding atmosphere. The Western Rim Properties feature incredible views of the landscapes as well as encouraging the residents to make nature a part of daily life with the installation of jogging and hiking trails. Both Hiles and his wife make numerous contributions every year to environmental causes. They are especially known for planting 2,500 trees a year as an important objective for their company’s long-term plan for living with environmental beauty and sustainability
