Why We Should Take Learning Outside The Classroom

Author: Sean Immerse

Learning is a continuous activity—it’s like a river that flows whether it’s day or night. Then why is learning restricted to classrooms only? Learning comes in different environments that needn’t be in classrooms only, so it’s better when learning can even be done outside classrooms—somewhere in the natural world where the theoretical boundaries blur and the practicalities shape.

We, at Cambridge Immerse Summer School, are big on the concept of learning that comes outside the four walls of a classroom. For this purpose, we’re giving you, the reader, ten key reasons why learning must be done outside a classroom.

Make learning more engaging

Kids can sometimes find it really very tedious to study and learn the concepts within the classrooms. So when the weather is ruddy nice outside, why the tutors can’t let the students study outside of the classroom … in the fresh air.

For example, the learners can learn mathematics better in the outside world. Send them to the market for some chore and let them do the calculation of money—this will teach them the basics mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Or you can even let the children note or measure the time required to run, skip or hop across a school field. Afterwards, they can graph their estimates back when they’re in the classroom. Now, let’s take another example of the study of law—it’ll always remain incomplete if it’s done without getting the hang of all the practicalities involved within the court of law. And that’s what the Law Cambridge University Summer School relies on—it believes in letting students participate in moot courts so that they can create or hone their skills.

Learning becomes relevant when it’s done outside the class

By putting learning way beyond a four-walled classroom, a student may find a sea of opportunities to swim in. If students are made to learn outside the classroom, they’ll know a thing or two about the relevance of the subject and about its necessity in the world.

Most concepts which may seem difficult to understand suddenly becomes clearer and easier for the students to understand than before. Which is why, learning outside a classroom will always make students more motivated and engaged.

Foster imagination and creativity

We’ve always felt that whenever students are allowed to step out of the classroom for learning, their wings get unclipped so that they can learn better. We do the same with our students—especially, the law ones—and have noticed significant benefits with that, too.

For instance, take our law students. By letting these students (who’ve participated in our law program) go in the outside world, we’ve been able to tap into their creative power and we’ve even been able to let them handle legal discussion a bit more creatively and smoothly. That’s why many of the students (who wish to be a legal expert of tomorrow) prefer learning at the Summer School Cambridge University.

So that’s it for now, readers. We’ve just given you three of the top benefits of letting students learn outside the classrooms. And at Cambridge Immerse Summer School, we practise what we preach. So let this summer become one of the most productive ones for the kids by selecting us as their summer school.
