Types of SAP integration with SAP Hybris commerce

Synchronous Order Management (SOM): In SOM, only customer interaction takes place through Hybris software and orders are placed in the software directly created in the backend. Here there is connection between hybris and SAP backend. It is dependent on availability of SAP backend system.

Asynchronous Order Management (AOM): This is independent and hybris stays completely independent of the SAP backend. There is no connection between ERP or CRM with respect to business process and data. The software accepts orders from customers and stores in Hybris and the orders are then send to SAP backend (CRM or ERP) so that orders are fulfilled. SAP backend system gives information on any order status change to hybris.
