The two most factors which drive a customer towards a product is the emotion and logic behind it. To understand these two factors itself only, retail sales training is given to the employees because when it comes to product there should be a reason behind it which induces the customer to buy it. An employee with these retail selling skills will always give an edge to its competitor’s sales team.

How does a customer make a decision?

Whenever the customer decides to purchase a product it would be either planned or spontaneous. There will be so many options available to the customer by which he will select the product. In India where every product is now available under a single roof customer tend to prefer shopping there.

These customers when at a retail outlet will be glancing at products and this where an emotional and logical trigger will induce the customer toward the product. The customer had in mind to purchase clothes which was set by his logic but then he/she comes across these nice shoes which create an emotional trigger in the brain which induces the customer to buy the product.

Even by logical standard set it is the emotional trigger which would make a customer’s heart feels towards that product. We when in our sub conscious mind, tend to make decisions from the heart only. Take the example of icc cricket world cup 2011 where the advertisements where made in a manner in which you heart would be speaking out.

When it comes down to select a product by logic and that will happen when you are not aware of the product or its technical aspects. Suppose you are planning to buy a car but you are not aware about the company then you will make a decision based on logic by evaluating the best alternatives.

Retail tips – the blend of emotion and logic

When we are speaking about emotions it would be about the products in which the customer wants them because he/she likes it. It’s not his necessity but the purchase will be made. And on the other side, when logic is there it is all about the necessity and wants about the product which will prevail the customer to buy a product. If an employee has these retail selling skills then he can be a quick winner.
