XAT 2017: Paper-pen test this year
XAT 2017: Paper-pen test this year
The XAT exam scheduled on January 8, 2017 will be paper-pen based also ensuring that all the candidates would be attempting the same set of questions. This decision has also been taken considering the difficulty of students from economically backward communities in giving exam with an operating computer and to instill uniformity in the manner of conducting the test.
However the other formalities associated with exam like registration can be completed online. The registration window started on 17th August 2016 and ends on 30th November, 2016.The time for registration is quite long for the students to complete the required formalities and give the exam in addition to other competitive exams that they would already be giving. However, this time the gap between XAT and CAT seems to be pretty less making it difficult for the students to juggle between both. The paper would be divided into two parts. One part would comprise of the following sections-Decision making, Verbal and logical Ability and Quantitative ability and Data interpretation totaling up to 78 questions. The other part would comprise of General Knowledge section with 25 questions and one topic for attempting an essay. The exam would be for a total duration of 3 hours and 25 mins. The admit card would be downloadable from December 20, 2016.
Last year changes were brought in the exam pattern by increasing the duration and reducing the number of multiple choice questions. However, this year there are no notable changes in the pattern or syllabus. A total of 90,000 candidates registered last year making it a most sought after exam.
Xat exam offers the opportunities to study in academic institutions of repute such as XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR and IMT to mention a few among 140 others. It would be conducted in a single testing window from 10 AM to 1.30 PM in 47 cities across the country and 2 places abroad being Kathmandu and Dubai.
With XAT being conducted across so many locations, including abroad, it is for the students to exploit this opportunity and make the most out of it.
