So if you are planning to take the plunge and you have never been to a drop zone before, here’s your pocket guide.

1. Dropzone or DZ

A drop zone (DZ) is a place where parachutists or skydivers land and take off from. At the drop zone, there is a runway from where the plane takes off and two designated landing strips specially designed for skydivers to land.

2. Canopy

A parachute is also known as a canopy.

3. Container

The parachute is packed into a rucksack looking bag that is strapped to the instructors shoulder. Skydiving container holds a main parachute and a reserve parachute

4. Free Fall

The industry has adopted free fall into one word frefall. This is what you jump for! Freefall is the time-spent form jumping out of the plane till the canopy is deployed. The higher the altutide, the longer the duration of the free fall and the lighter the weight of the jumper the longer the freefall.

5. Tandem

The tandem jump is the easiest and safest way to skydive for the first time. It allows you to experience the thrill of your first skydive safely strapped and securely harnessed to an experienced instructor. You share the parachute with the instructor who controls the jump.

6. AAD- Automatic Activation Device

The AAD technology is what makes Skydiving the safest extreme adventure in the world. AAD is a computer installed into a container that reads barometric pressure and speed, so when you get as low as 750 feet at a high rate of speed, it will automatically activate your reserve parachute. Its your safety net should you pass out or not be able to deploy your main parachute.

7. Reserve Parachute

It is the second safety parachute, should there be a snag or inability to delpy the main parachute.
