Digital Classrooms, The Cisco Way
As digitization is taking place in many states across India, following the push for digital economy by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of Rajasthan has forged alliance with global networking behemoth Cisco. As early as January this year, both Cisco and the Government of Rajasthan signed a statement of intent. As per the SoI, Cisco will set up digital classrooms in women colleges. Besides that, Cisco is also helping the state by expanding Jaipur light house programme in introducing smart water for water management

According to the understanding the Government of Rajasthan and Cisco have arrived, the networking major will strive to achieve the government's aim of making one woman e-literate in every household. In order to implement this, Cisco had announced video enabled digital classrooms in women colleges. Cisco is aiming at covering 10,000 women students in a year in rural and urban areas of Rajasthan. What is more, the digital classrooms will offer training and development of IT skills for women and further enabling them to gear up for the digital era, besides building the State's bank of highly skilled technology professionals.
Dinesh Malkani, President, Cisco India and SAARC said, "We believe the digital classrooms in women’s colleges will increase employment options to help advance their careers and be a training ground for the next generation of women leaders."
Cisco has already tied up with the State Institute of Education Management And Training (SIEMAT) and has set up virtual classrooms across twelve institutes in the State to provide 50,000 man hours of training through digital classrooms.
Vasundhara Raje, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan said, "The Digital Classroom solutions through SIEMAT, the Cisco Networking Academy Courses in 25 government ITIs and networking of ITIs in the Divisional Headquarters and Anta – are efforts that make us all proud. Almost 60% of our population is youth and it is for us to work together, make a difference in their lives and help them live their dreams."
