Western Australia Texting Bays:

The state government in Western Australia has been trying out a new initiative to reduce car accidents caused by mobile phone use. Along two main highways, they introduced texting bays and are urged drivers to pull over and use them. There were five of these texting bays located along the South Western Highway and Forest Highways where drivers were encouraged to check their mobile phones. This initial trial ran during the busy Easter weekend period up until April 28. The results of the trial are now being reviewed by the Road Safety Commission to see if any measurable road safety improvements have been made.

Communicating Safely:
