1888PressRelease - Mother and son team up to raise awareness about childhood brain cancer.

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Melissa Earls and her son Stephen are on a mission to raise awareness of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive form of childhood brain cancer that has plagued 6 year old Devin Suau and his family.

"Bob and Frank" came alive in 2012 as characters in a silly story to cheer up Earls then 2-year old son, Stephen, during a typical two-year old tantrum. Stephen loved the story and Melissa told it often to cheer him up and make others laugh over the years. Together they co-wrote and illustrated the original book in 2014. They were happy to bring their love of Bob and Frank to the forefront again to meet "Super D" and help Devin in his fight, With the help and donated time of an illustrator, publisher and editor, they published their second book, Two Owls and a Superhero: The Sweet Story of Bob, Frank, and Super D in effort to raise money for Devin and awareness around his cancer.

Earls explained, "This has been such a special project for us to do together. We wrote this book to give all the younger children who love Devin a way to support him. It was created to bring a story of hope, friendship and community together as Super D takes on the mission to bring a smile to those in need. Super D was fashioned specifically to look like Devin and to model the courage he has had throughout his diagnosis. Stephen and I are so proud of the book and so passionate about finding ways to support our friends. The Suau family has made a whole community better people just by their unity and courage and I hope this book inspires, spreads awareness and makes those who read it smile. 100 percent of the proceeds of this book will go to Devin’s medical expenses."
