Mcdelivery Not Only Brings Food To Your Doorstep, It’s Easy To Use Too
The best thing about the convenience of ordering McDonald’s food online via phone app or through McDelivery website is getting the food right at home soon after reaching home after a long day’s work. Or, getting everyone’s favourite food when a sudden idea for a house party crops up.
Imagine, your favourite burger and McFries delivered in a familiar brown paper parcel, that too far more quickly than if you were to visit a nearby restaurant!
A single click on your phone or computer makes ordering food incredibly easy, especially in today’s time-strapped era. The same reason lies behind choosing not to cook at home over getting food delivered. So food apps like the McDonald’s App come as a vital boon for foodies everywhere.
Especially working professionals and young people staying away from home prefer to exercise this option.
Then, like the saying goes, there’s no place like home when it comes to ultimate comfort. So, why not enjoy comfort food in a place best suited to it? Wearing your most comfortable clothes and in the company of people one is most comfortable with.
Online ordering, incidentally, does not mean ordering in a hurry, as dictated by queues in a restaurant. Instead, it means sitting comfortably in your sofa and browsing through the exciting menu before picking our your favourites. Or better still, getting into an adventurous mood and trying something new.
This technological breakthrough has resulted in Westlife Development, whose subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants manages the McDonald’s (West & South India) franchise, being able to steadily grow its reach and clientale.
In fact, McDelivery, the home delivery segment of McDonald’s business, has played a major role in scripting Westlife Development’s success story. In the words of Amit Jatia, Vice Chairman, Westlife Development, the company was able to maintain its 40-50 per cent growth recorded in Financial Year 2016, going forward, primarily because of its focus on delivering value on a daily basis, over offering deals or discounts. Jatia says it was this policy that set McDonald’s (West & South) apart from other players in the delivery business
Jatia goes on to claim that McDonald’s India delivery business is much bigger in size than that of its competitors. And he feels no threat from the competition. "I think aggregators are only helping us by encouraging people to order more food at home, which is growing the whole market for everybody", he said in an interview.
Giving further insights, Jatia says that if McDelivery was taken as a separate business for McDonald’s India, it would figure in the top-25 restaurant companies, in terms of gross sales.
Introduced in India in 2004, McDelivery sales have grown at 22 per cent CAGR from 2011 to 2015. The success of the delivery service is a result of the advent of smartphones and easy payment options which have made the food delivery option have more appeal.
The first quarter of FY 2016-17 showed Westlife Development depicting strong growth in sales through its online and mobile platform. This made the company make significant investment to strengthen this business.
Further, it innovated and accelerated its efforts towards leveraging its digital platforms to enhance the user’s experience on the two platforms as well.
McDelivery today functions on a strong base of over 125 hubs in over ten cities across west and south India, supported by more than 500 bikes and 600 riders, including outsourced riders, at the backend.
