Plastic industry in India, similar to that in the United States, is one of the dominating industries on which many other major industries are depending on. - Worldwide use of plastics will grow to about six times by the year 2030 in respect to the current consumption rate. India will continue to be the chief competitor of the west European countries in regard to the polyolefin share. The amount of wastes generated from plastics in India will also experience considerable growth and this in turn will lead either to a decrease or to constancy in the rate of plastic recycling process.
- The All India Association of Plastic Manufacturers, founded in 1971, was changed to today’s All India Federation of Plastic Industries in 1985. At present the All India Association of Plastic Industries operates as a non-profit making voluntary association. More than 400 plastic manufacturing units located across the nation are members of AIFPI. AIFPI has memberships reaching up to various other associations situated in different metropolitan cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and many more. AIFPI is associated with the growth of several small scale and minor plastic manufacturing divisions in India. - The All India Plastic Industries Association was founded in 1982 and since then it has emerged as one of the most prominent SSI registered associations of Indian plastic industry. Several medium scale plastic manufacturing companies are members of AIPIA. More than 587 plastic processing units are life members of AIPIA, which has almost 1714 registered members nationwide. Since its establishment AIPIA has been actively involved with all issues related to the Indian Plastic Industry and has been engaged in many other serious areas of the Indian plastic industry. These areas include supplier policies, government duties, Indian customs duty tariff codes, effect of plastic production on environment, recycling of eco-friendly plastic bags and recycling of plastic bags that are not eco-friendly. AIPIA is currently associated with many agencies in dealing with many issues related to the plastic industry India.
