Congratulations on your new WordPress website, hope you are benefiting from it.

If you have hired someone else to get it developed then the chances are that you need not to go through this post but if you have designed it by yourself then chances are still the same.

This post is all about the small things which are percepted to be left out while development and after development.

Let us go through some things which you might have been missing in your WordPress site.

URL Structure:

Are you still following the default URL structure on the website. Change it, because it no only looks ugly but is a big no from SEO point of view.

By default the URL structure looks like www.site.com.?p=32, which not only is very confusing to humans, but is or bots too.

You can change the permalink from going into options then permalinks. I suggest you to go for post name, as it is the most relevant link format for bots.

Adding an SSL certificate: Did you know that Google had made mandatory for every website to have a SSL certificate, else it will show an unsecure website warning in Google chrome browser. Well i know you remember but might have forget about it

SSL certificates comes for a price of 5$/yr and range up to 499$. But do you know you can get a free ssl certificate for WordPress?

Go for it!

Setting website on auto backup:

It is always recommended to create a backup of your site, especially when it is dynamic. For dynamic websites, it is best to take backup weekly or monthly, it totally depends upon website’s content update frequency.

In WordPress there are two ways you can backup your site. First is the manual method where you have to visit your cpanel and search for backup and create a backup.

If you have forgotten about the backup part, then it is obvious that you will forget about taking manual backups also.

For such situation you have automatic backups. WordPress will automatically backup itself on desired time.

Use a automatic backup plugin which will back-up your entire site including your database on a schedule time.

These can be some things which you might be forgetting.
