Preparing the right way for Child Pedagogy

UPTET has two different papers for Grades 1 to 5 and Grades 6 to 8. Child Development and Pedagogy is the common subject in both Paper 1 and 2. Both the aspirants are required to study the same in Child Development and Pedagogy.

This subject is completely theoretical in its approach. The level of the questions is known to be moderate in its approach. Child Development and Pedagogy can be easily divided into two parts:

  • 15 Q from Child Development
  • 15 Q from Pedagogy

The questions are sought to be distributed in the following manner:

  1. 15 topics would be asked from Child Development in such a way that subtopics with their respective weight would be covered. Students, in this case, would be required to learn about various thinkers and their ideologies.
  2. Students would be required to study the special attributes that are made for the special children. Most of the questions deal with the behavior of the teacher in the course of dealing with the case of a special child.
  3. The 10 questions that are raised from Learning and Pedagogy section are concerning the pedagogy of the child behavior. Students should be familiar with the following topics listed below:
  • Intelligence Theory
  • Child Development Theory
  • Learning, Assessment and Evaluation theories
  • Intelligence Theories
  • Psychological concepts

Once the distribution of the questions is known for Child Development, the relevant books for Child Development is required to be known. Mock Tests is an important requisite for a candidate to do well in the examination. The candidates should try to attempt them as much as possible. The more a candidate practices, the more comfortable he would feel about the examination ambience and would attempt it in a better way. Revision of previous year question papers is of equal relevance in this case. A candidate must ensure that enough time is devoted towards mock tests and previous year question papers in equal measure. A lot of questions in the previous questions are repetitive hence practice of previous year question papers is sure to give a candidate a hang on the question pattern and the marking scheme of the UPTET.

Child Development and Pedagogy is an important branch of psychology that focuses on the mind and behavior of children from the stage of parental development to adolescence. Child Psychology deals with not only the physical development of children, but also with their mental, social and emotional development.as well. Child Pyschology from the perspective of development is considered unique which affects and determines the growth of a child internally and externally. The subject of Child Psychology could also be understood as the development of maturity in a child and his interaction with the environment as such.
