All you need to know about GPAT

GPAT Registration has begun from the month of October which would be administered by the All India Council for Technical Education. The test is conducted to select appropriate candidates for Pharmaceutical education. GPAT is usually conducted in the month of January to ensure admission to Postgraduate pharmaceutical courses.

Gpat score is in use by all AICTE approved institutions. Scores are also considered to provide scholarships and financial assistance in the field of pharmacy. The GPAT Registration characteristics are explained as below:

  • Candidates can register for GPAT Examination by online mode through accessing the GPAT official website.
  • AICTE has released the GPAT Application Form from 20th October 2017 onwards.
  • The online registration facility is slated to be available until 18th December 2017.
  • The GPAT Registration procedure comprises of the following steps as mentioned: Self registration, payment of fees and filling the application form details.
  • Candidates would be required to upload scanned signature (60*90) and scanned photograph. (140*60)
  • Candidates would also be required to ensure that fields in the application form are filled right as there would be no change in the date once the application form stands submitted.
  • Candidates can take a printout of the form and store it for future reference.

The GPAT Registration fee details are as given below:

GEN/OBC – INR 1400 + Bank charges

Girls/SC/ST/PWD candidates – INR 700 + Bank charges

The GPAT Applicants can choose to pay their fees in the following modes mentioned through credit card/debit card/net banking. Applicants can make payment through SBI Challan. Candidates would be required to fulfil the eligibility criteria for GPAT Examination:

  1. Candidates should be a citizen of India.
  2. The candidate should have completed his Bachelor’s degree for a period of 4 years.
  3. Those candidates in their final year of B.Pharm would become eligible for appearing in GPAT 2018.
  4. No age restriction has been set for candidates writing the exam.

The GPAT Exam Pattern has been explained as below:

  1. The examination would be a Computer Based test wherein questions would be shown on a computer screen.
  2. The question paper would be consisting of only Multiple Choice Questions.
  3. There would be a total of 125 questions carrying a total of 500 marks.
  4. Every correct answer would be carrying 4 marks.
  5. Any wrong answer would be carrying negative marking. 1 mark would be deducted for every wrong answer. Questions not attempted would end in candidate scoring 0 marks.

Here are a few preparation tips for the candidates to do well in the examination.

  • The details regarding the exam pattern and syllabus would be required to be collected by the candidates.
  • The right material needs to be chosen to ensure the candidate does well in the GPAT Examination.
  • Revision is crucial for a candidate to do well in the examination.
  • The candidate should practice previous year question papers and mock papers to do well in the GPAT examination.
  • A good diet and right amount of sleep is required for the candidate to do well in the examination.
