Use of LED Lighting Fixtures In Residential and Commercial Property

Most people in the modern world today know and recognise the benefits of LED lighting. The agricultural sector were first movers in converting from traditional sources of light to LED lighting, quickly followed by the industrial sector. The last years though, it has been residential and commercial properties that have been on rise – and with very good reason.

The first generations of LED fixtures had a quite narrow field of application, due to its low brightness and blue light. Both lifespan and energy efficiency in the LEDs was already significantly better than the traditional counterparts at that time. Just one decade ago you would not come across many LED fixtures during your walk in the park, where as today, many residential areas and commercial properties use LED lighting fixtures like solid bollards or recessed spots. You may be fooled when walking past a LED bollard though, as it will look just like a regular bollard. The real difference lies within the lifespan, energy efficiency and robustness.

Especially the robustness is a relevant characteristic of LEDs, when illuminating residential areas like parks or pathways. In a public space with many people passing by both day and night, the risk of vandalism increases. Bumps and shocks are the worst enemy of both the incandescent and fluorescent technologies. This does not apply to LEDs that are practically vandalism-repellent. No other source of light is more suitable to be installed outside in a rough environment with switching temperatures, bumps, shocks, vibrations and dust.

Commercial properties are probably more forgiving than residential areas. But once again are the benefits of the LED technology practically tailored to commercial property lighting. Not only can LED lighting increase the feeling of well-being and productivity, it can also create a stylish and elegant look in any commercial office, enhancing the first impression for visiting customers and partners. Recessed LED fixtures, preferably with wall-washing effect, can transform any ordinary office into something quite special. A popular initiative among LED commercial lighting companies, is to add the conversion to LED lighting to their CSR profile, bringing sustainability into the respective brand name. Every time a company switches to LEDs, our planet gets just a little bit greener.

When LED residential lighting up entire properties with LEDs though have one common benefit, regardless of it being a home or commercial property – and that is reduced maintenance. The incredible lifespan of LEDs means less man-hours spent on something so unproductive as replacing bulbs, tubes or whatever.
