Everyone is aware of the effects of UV lights and how to get along with them, but did you know how to handle the impacts of an evenly dangerous blue light?

While the primary source of blue light is the sun, blue light is actually everywhere. Electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets, televisions, computers as well as LEDs and fluorescent bulbs also emit blue light. If you spend hours staring at your computer, smart phone or television, you can benefit from blue blocking glasses to reduce eye stress and improve their comfort. But the adverse consequences of blue light are far more pressing than eye strains and distress.

Dangers of blue light

Blue light is often associated with disrupted sleep along with a number of other severe health ailments. It has one of the shortest and highest energy wavelengths in the apparent light spectrum, which can create flashes that can dramatically alter the eye’s ability to see anything clearly, by diminishing sharpness and contrast from the vision. These flashes are very harmful as they can lead to eye strains, severe headaches or even fatigue.

While a human eye has natural filters to prevent them from several damaging rays, but they are not able to provide an adequate shield from blue light released from the sun. Blue light from electronic devices can be even more devastating and lead to a medical issue known as digital eyestrain. Prolonged exposure to electronic devices can cause blurred vision, which makes it extremely difficult to concentrate on anything.

Blue light is bad for people of all ages – from children to elderly. The younger generation is becoming more and more dependent on electronic devices such as smart phones, e-readers, video games, etc. to consume electronic media. Blue light is especially harmful to children because their eyes have not been developed yet and they can be at very high risks of eye damage when exposed to blue light for an extended period of time.

While it’s not really easy to avoid blue light because of people’s dependence on their smart devices, but blue light’s exposure can be reduced significantly with blue light blocking glasses. They can help you work on your computer, play video games on your console, read e-books or browse social media on your Smartphone, without causing discomfort in your eyes. They can also induce a better sleep and sustain your eye’s good health.
