My 7 Days travel experience in Nepal
It’s more than a year since I returned from my exotic trip to Nepal. After completion of my first year, I decided to travel Nepal to unwind and enjoy on pristine nature at the lap of Himalaya. But I had only 7 days of vacation, so I have to explore as much as I can during this short period. First of all, I decided to make some research about the popular short hiking trip around the Kathmandu; then I found Chisapani Nagarkot hike as the best short hiking trips in Nepal. Since gazing Everest (8,848m) from the closest possible distance, the highest peak in the world, is my ultimate bucket list, I also made a plan to visit Everest Base Camp. All these trips are not possible within days, so I took a chattered heli ride to Everest Base Camp. And It is the most enthralling experience I have ever had.
In this article, I want to share my travel story which might hopefully help you in any of your future travel plans.
My Travel ScheduleI landed Trinhuavan International Airport in 10 March 2016. I then drove to the hotel located in Thamel; 5km west of airport. The taxi charges around USD 20 – USD 25 from airport to Thamel. I had pre-booked hotel from booking.com, so it was easy to find accommodation even in peak season.
Since, It was long journey, I decided to take full-day rest at my hotel. In the evening, I went for walk around the street of Thamel to explore the architectural display of shops. In the evening, I enjoyed a typical Nepali dish in cultural restaurant. You can find many of these restaurant around here.
Next day, I visited several travel & tours agency which can tailor make the trips according to my preference and need. I decided to go for "Tour Guide in Nepal", a Thamel based travel & tour operator.
The staffs of Tour Guide in Nepal are very friendly and ready to help whenever needed. I provided all the documents and asked the team of expert to customize my trips according to my vacation and needs.
My 5 Days Travel ItineraryI had a two travel choice which to take first. I decided to take a "Chisapani Nagarkot Hike" first and then go for Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour.
Chisapani Nagarkot Hiking Trips usually takes a 5 days to complete but we (I and my tour guide) competed it in 3 days. We first walked for 6 – 7 hours to Chisapani and stayed overnight there. Today we got to explore the floral and faunal species of Sivapuri National Park and experience culture of Nepalese people. Then we hike for 5 – 6 hours to reach Nagarkot, a famous view point nearby Kathmandu. We enjoyed a sunrise view and extended view of Himalayas – stretching from Dhaulagiri, past Everest to far Kanchenjunga. Then we drove back to Kathmandu. After lunch at hotel, we make a tour to the UNESCO designated world heritage of Kathmandu. We visited famous Pashupatinath (Hindu temple), Boudhanath (largest stupa in Nepal) and Swayambhunath (2,000 years old monkey temple).
Next day, early in the morning around 6:00 AM, we drove to domestic airport to take an exotic heli ride to Everest. As we started flying, we can see the amazing views of emerald hills, rivers, lakes and more. We landed at Lukla to refuel and continued flying to Everest base camp through highland Khumbu village of Tengboche, Dingboche, Gorak Shep. As we reach the Everest Base Camp, the view became unbelievably magical. The array of glistering peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and other peak was something which is sure to remain forever in my memory. This Everest view heli tour took us to Kalapatthar where we landed for a while to take some pose with Everest. Then we flew to Everest view hotel to enjoy the heartily breakfast. Here we also interacted with local people to get insight of local culture.
Then we flew back to Kathmandu to conclude our 4-5 hours long Everest heli tour.
Next day, the representative from Tour Guide in Nepal drove me back to Tribhuvan International Airport for my final departure.
Thanks Tour Guide in Nepal team to make our journey a memorable one.
