5 Signs You Are Not Using the Best Gas Chromatography Systems
Science and technology today are intertwined. So, if you aren’t using the best technology, how can you say you are doing the best science? You can not! If you are concerned that your analysis software isn’t quite right, here is what to look for in order to know for sure:
- It takes new employees a long time to ramp up on the current system. When new team members are brought on, how do they react to your software? This is particularly a good clue if they are right out of grad school. Does it take longer than the average 90-day window for them to be able to get to work on their own? If it does, it may be because of the software you’re putting them on. Stop making it harder than it needs to be! You need a software that is fully compliant with all of the existing standard test methods, and even proposed ones. It should be designed to make it easy to quickly obtain results regardless of the skill level of the user.
- Your eventual results are in question. Above all else, your results need to be correct. If your software is confusing, full of bugs, and requires you to do calculations in another computer program in order to complete the task, can you really be sure it is correct? Never take that chance! Instead, opt for a series software has been designed by in-house experts who have decades of firsthand experience working in laboratories just like yours, as well as international standards organizations to develop, validate, and implement many of the methods used today. Something made by the best will be the best. It’s that simple!
- Your current gas chromatography hydrocarbon analysis system is very old. Was it originally purchased and implemented years ago? Nearly every software and operating system has a new version every few years. Even the computer itself has a better model released every few years! If you are struggling to use a software that has major limitations, it may be because it is old and the manufacturers have released something much better more recently.
- The competition has something better. This isn’t just a case of being jealous or trying to keep up with someone else. If your competition is using something else, it is worth looking into. This is particularly true if they are doing better, coming up with results faster and working in a more efficient manner. It may be that they are working with a better system than you are!
#5 You aren’t satisfied with it for any other reason. It doesn’t matter why you think you need a new software. You know how important gas chromatography is to get right. Plus, you are the one who uses it every day. Maybe it is slow or maybe it is confusing. If you think it’s time to get a better version of your gas chromatography hydrocarbon analysis, do it!
If you are concerned about any type of software your company is using on a regular basis, including that which is used to analyze gas chromatography, make today the day you begin your research to find a better option.
