What are Spring Dowel Pins?

A spring dowel pin is simply a dowel pin made of high-carbon spring steel (EN-42J) having 44-51 HRC (hardness) and finds applications in varied fields, from automobile to electronics. There are some features of Spring dowel pins, manufacturers take advantage of, as opposed to a normal threaded/grooved pin.

What are the characteristics of Spring dowel Pins?

The biggest problem, dowel pin manufacturers faced were in Mechanical arrangements, where precision is the key. Since a Spring Dowel pin is compressed when inserted, it requires no threads/grooves. They have a unique elasticity that gives them an advantage over traditional grooved pin suppliers. Spring Dowel Pins are of two types; Tolerant split Dowel and wrapped Dowel. Once used, they can easily be removed by compressing the spring again. The part automatically adjusts to the other physical parts of the system, again due to its elasticity. Spring Dowel Pin manufacturers primarily cater to Automobiles, as these springs have much higher abilities to withstand vibrations. Moreover, dowel pin users have a greater disadvantage if they require to physically move the assembly. They will have have to unscrew many nuts and bolts before assembling them again. Spring dowel pins greatly reduce the use of nuts and bolts to hold it in place.

Advantages of Spring Dowel pins

Spring Dowel manufacturers use one of the highest grade carbon steel. The product is such that no compromise on the quality of raw materials can be afforded. It is designed to work in tight spaces and delivers precision movement with respect to machine parts, like cantilever motion, threading motion etc. Spring Dowel pins are also typically longer lasting due to their manufacturing components. They also translate to huge savings in terms of time, money and labor for maintenance as opposed to traditional pins. Also, a lot of auxiliary costs like nuts and bolts are saved, as these springs can operate on their own. Spring Dowel Pin Manufacturers give a heat treatment to the pins, which results in an exponential increase of strength and shock absorption capabilities!
