Florida Dune Lake and Milky Way

A view of the glactic core of the Milky Way across a Florida Coastal Dune Lake. It was a hot and muggy night in the Florida Panhandle and I got out early to photograph the Milky Way before the dawn. I visit this dune lake to see how I can get the shot. I was walking down along the lake shore in the grass and then stepped back to include the trees. Nothing like getting in a little nightscape photography when not on a photo trip! megan rapinoe jersey

You should see a mountain range in this image, but heavy rains the day before created conditions for fog and sure enough the mountains were hidden in it. However the Milky Way still blazed in the sky above. This is from a nightscape photography trip to west Texas.

A view through a dust storm towards Tule Mountain in Big Bend National Park with the Milky Way rising above in the Texas night sky. When I had woken up it was calm and clear but the winds quickly rose to 50+ mph and dust began to fill the sky. Soon most of the mountains were hidden in the dust and the wind made photography very difficult.

El Capitan and Bridalveil Falls glow in the dark with the Merced River flowing at my feet and the arc of the Milky Way stretching across the sky. I was luck enough to be in Yosemite last month for a weekend. With clear skies I went out at 0300 to chase the Milky Way above the valley. I got out just as the almost full moon was setting and had the park to myself. Standing by the river at this classic viewpoint all to myself in the dark with the stars. What an amazing night!

BTW, the light on EL Capitan (the big cliff on left) are climbers on a portaledge spending the night on the climb. They are several hundred feet off the ground.

Here you can make out the distinctive shape of Tule Mountain with the Sierra Ponce wall semi-visible as a dark line in the distance.A view of the Milky Way shining in the over the rocky Nolan River. I had waded down the river in the dark to this spot where I could get the Milky Way rising up out of the river. Standing there in the water in the dark of the night, watching the lightening bugs blink is magic.

It is the ability to capture a nightscape image like this that has most wow'd me in the digital age. My A7S can see in the dark and I love what I can now photograph in just a few short seconds (this was a 20 second shot).

Dimitri Payet took to social media on Monday to mock Paris Saint-Germain and Neymar following Marseille's 1-0 win over the Ligue 1 champions.

The 33-year-old shared a picture of French rap group Bande Organisée, but with the members' heads replaced by those of some Marseille players and coach Andre Villas-Boas, while Neymar's head has been photoshopped onto the body of a dog being held by Alvaro Gonzalez.
