In the world, soccer does not need any recognition. Since it is a rough sport, injuries are common. Ankle injuries are common among boys who play soccer, however, in girls; anterior cruciate ligament tears are common. These types of injuries occur due to sudden turns and stops.

Heel Pain

Heel pain is normal if your wear soccer cleats. However, some it may occur due to the growth plate of the heel bone which makes you feel irritated. This injury can be treated with ice, calf stretches, limited running, anti-inflammatory medications. Another option is to wear arch supports or heel cups which provide benefit to players with heel pain.

Head Injuries

Concussions are another injury in soccer which a player may get after hitting the ground or colliding with another player. He may or may not lose consciousness. This may temporarily affect the functions of the brain and need a medical attention immediately.

Mouth, Face and Teeth Injuries

Colliding also leads to mouth, face and teeth injuries. However, players can use a mouth guard for some protection.

Eye Injuries

Eye injuries are very rare in soccer. But when they occur, they cause damage to the eye socket or the eye globe. Soccer players can wear goggles which are made of polycarbonate to prevent injuries.

Steps to avoid injuries

To prevent these soccer injuries, players must be encouraged to play fair and follow all the rules. Here are some steps to avoid soccer injuries:

  • Always wear cleats which provide you great grip, support and have sufficient heel.
  • Use a soccer ball as per the age group which is water-resistant and properly inflated.
  • To develop balance and conditioning, do preseason training.
  • Don’t allow players to play aggressively, instead encourage them to control their aggressiveness.
  • Whether you use goal posts or not, always secure and maintain them all times.
  • Teach players proper techniques to play soccer while avoiding injuries.
  • Use a soccer rebounder which is made of high-quality material.
