Tips for Original Ideas and Original Texts

Author: Thomas Johnson

"How original can one still write?" That is what a participant of my creative writing course asked me. After all, everything has happened before. "How do I write a salutation that stands out from the conveyor belt character of the usual?" That asked me once a participant of my writing coaching. If you research a bit on the Internet, you will find many websites that offer "original products" or "original services". From the original Easter egg to the original business trip to Mars. (Well, not quite yet). Teenagers are either convinced that they are different.

Apparently, the need to stand out, to attract attention, to be original and unique is quite pronounced. ". If you are an paper writer, then it is important that your texts be original, otherwise people will simply not buy an essay paper. So you have to understand how to write originally. Last but not least, this may be due to part of the success of social media offers or various TV broadcasts. We want to attract attention, be noticed, be special, and shout aloud: "Hello, there I am. Look at me. But how can one be original or original? I have some tips for you here.

1. Do everything differently

Be aware differently than others. Ask yourself: how do you usually do something? And then think about it: what could be unusual about it? So for example: A business meal not in the restaurant in the city, but on Mars.

Attention: This procedure can backfire. Because often one remains trapped in old patterns and only reverses them. It's like children who consciously want to do everything differently than their parents. These, too, do not really get rid of what their parents tell them to do.

2. Try the opposite

This tip works much like # 1. Turn something into its exact opposite. Example: If anyone writes serious tips, try satire.

3. Choose a different approach or perspective

Here you do not want to stand out completely, you limit yourself to a slightly different twist. An ingredient. A different style. Another perspective. For example, do a little free writing. Leave as uncontrolled and uncensored as possible what you have in mind about this topic. In a second step, search for combinations and cross-connections.

So about: You come to the subject of summer vacation as different things as cat pest, sailing, hopefully the weather is playing along, holidays as a child with church holidays in Austria, and so on. (Now just roughly how the technology works, read Free Writing in my mini-course.)

4. Modify and change the existing one

You can also modify and modify something existing. Tips on how your baby tiger survives the hot season may be "tips on how your pet does not bacon in winter". Or "Tips on keeping your pet happy and active in winter". Here you change the season and easily the focus of content. It's not about putting away the heat well. It's about managing a calorie-rich diet and greater inactivity without side effects.

5. Find new combinations

I have already mentioned in point 3 how to become more original with new combinations. You can also approach it less associatively and randomly, but directly.

For example, I combine two topics, such as learning and writing, to make articles such as "learning by writing" or " learning with stories". Similar to an article like this, which simultaneously pursues the themes of originality for ideas and for texts.

6. Add something

Again, this is a way to stand out and create or write something special: add something new to an existing home base. An example of this is my article "creative conflict resolution". There are already various articles or books on conflict resolution. My article has the special touch of seeing everything strongly from the point of thinking errors, perceptual errors, creativity techniques and so on. These are additions that enrich the familiar theme.

7. Want to be spectacular

Perhaps the most striking way to be original is to seek spectacular, stunning, mysterious or mysterious ideas. For example, ask yourself: what would famous tabloid newspapers report about? What would upset the neighbors? What would gossip start? What would be exciting and tempting?

Attention: Originality is not always necessary or even meaningful. Please pay attention to when and where original ideas and texts really make sense. To be original at any cost can also be a mistake.

To take an example, the titles of my articles could certainly be more creative and original. But sometimes you can write too original.

A title must, in my opinion, primarily attract and make curious. He must promise the reader a concrete benefit. He has to tell him, "Look, if you read this, you'll learn that and that / learn new things, and so on. This is about that and the topic."

Sometimes this is also about a question or an implied secret. But by no means should the title itself be a mystery. The notoriously volatile surfer will rarely invest the time and follow a title that says nothing to him and has nothing to offer.

Always pay attention to your target group and their possible interests. A business meal with Manta plate on the motorway service area does not meet every taste. If you specialize in these and similar ideas, make sure your audience appreciates this kind of originality.

Maybe less "original" than "fitting"

Maybe you should try less to be original than to be appropriate. As I said, you have none of your original ideas if they do not hit the nerve of your customers, customers, readers and so on. You have none of it if you are spectacular, but attract the wrong people.

Many go crazy thinking "I really need something original". "I need the perfect original greeting, the business lunch with the unique kick". On the one hand, I find it more important to be authentic and to choose what suits you. After all, that's what the other guy gets from us. So he should see that too. Otherwise, later disappointments will open the door.

And I find it more important to empathize with others and to offer him what will probably interest him. The greater my benefit to someone, the more benevolent he will be to me.

But you have to be able to think independently

It goes without saying that you should not turn your mind off for that. Anyone who buys together with many other prefabricated "original products" is anything but original. It's not about being fabulously original. It's about finding your own point of view, your own solutions, texts and products. Independent thinking, unusual solutions and imaginative texts are closely related.

Why not just be yourself?

That's why I suggest: Have the courage to be yourself. Stay authentic. Stand by your own touch, your approach, your handwriting, your mix and your style. Since we are all different, the likelihood is quite high that we are also original. Unlike most others. Hmm?
