Building Salesforce Apps Through Lightning
Salesforce users have been complaining majorly about the User Interface being clunky. The web has moved to responsive design and the Salesforce UI did not evolve at the same rate, initially. This made Salesforce reconsider the way their platform is designed and the way apps are built on it. All this led to the launch of a new platform that Salesforce has named as 'Lightning' and is also called "The future of CRM". Lightning is designed to bring additional analytics and in-line intelligence to drive more sales and is a completely new implementation of Salesforce. This is done by focusing completely on the application logic and democratizing app creation on the platform. The major changes that have been brought with the Lightning platform:-
1. A New Information Architecture
Relevant information is surfaced for each screen, streamlining process and workflows, with Lightning. The 'Activity Feed', eg, surfaces the latest updates assigned to a Sales Representative from all accounts. To see everything going on with a customer without going to different pages in the application, one can use the 'Contextual Hovers'. To get the complete picture across all of your deals there is the 'Opportunity Board'. And, finally, there are customizable dashboards that allow pick and choose what data one would like to have at fingertips even if it's not available by default. The end users get more power in their hands and which in turn will turn into a more satisfying experience for the Sales team.
2. A new Design Language
Irrespective of the device, all the new features available within the UI work in the same way. For this Lightning delivers a new design language which promises a consumer-like experience across every device, browser and operating system. This is in turn useful in making Salesforce a responsive platform.
3. A new way to build Apps
The number of custom apps developed on the Salesforce platform has increased tremendously because of Lightning. Even the non-developer users are now able to build apps as Salesforce has greatly democratized the app development process. By simply using the drag-and-drop visual interface of Lightning Components, any user can start building apps. To provide more flexibility for how the system is designed and made it easy for the previous complex workflows, Lightning apps can be built as standalone apps on top of existing Salesforce applications or Salesforce1 mobile applications.
It's very easy and simple task to build basic applications and do simple customizations, but if one is into this business, and then it becomes inevitable to design complex applications with intricate application logic. It may also happen that one does not have the talent or bandwidth internally to develop these apps on their own and also if it is done incorrectly, one could end up in building incorrect apps without gaining the desired results and are incompatible with each other. This makes it more beneficial and safe to work with a Salesforce Lightning Developer so that one does not waste time and energy in building inappropriate apps.
