But How Exactly Do You Get There?
If you want to go on your own, there are various ways to arrive at the park. In this article, we're going to look at how to get to Xel-Ha in the most convenient and affordable ways. Some transport options take longer than others, which is something that you must consider if you want to maximize your time at the park. There are four ways that you can use to get to the park, and each of them is outlined below.
Your Options For Getting To The Park:
1. Going in your own car If you're driving down in your own or a rented car, parking at Xel Ha is free. If you would rather get there by bus or taxi from Playa del Carmen and Cancun, then you have various options available to you.
2. Use Your Ticket To Buy Transportation To Xel Ha This costs about $27 USD for each person, and it's a great option for people who stay at large hotels and don't want to concern themselves with figuring out busses, colectivos, or renting expensive cars or taxis. When you choose this option, you're picked up by a luxury van and taken round trip to the park and back to your hotel again. You can book your transportation with your Xel Ha Cancun ticket right now. On your return, you can hire a taxi from special booths at the park for your return, 3. Take the ADO Bus This is a great option if you're in Cancun, and you can get to the bus station easily. It limits you to the bus times, but it works out as the more affordable option costing between 75 and 150 pesos. Remember to account for the time that the bus will take to get to the park when planning your activities. The bus schedule is as follows: Cancun: 7.50 am, 8.45 am, 9.45 am Returning 5.40 pm, 6.10 pm Playa del Carmen: 5.40 pm and 6.05 pm Cancun: 5.45 pm and 6.10 pm
or you could even purchase an ADO bus ticket on the bus when it arrives in the park's parking lot. The bus schedule is as follows (although it's important to note that these times sometimes vary according to seasons:
- Use Colectivos This form of shared transport offers an affordable alternative if you have a small group of people going and you can get to the Playa del Carmen station easily. It costs about 40 pesos for one person each way, but you may have to wait some time for pickup, and there isn't much room in the minivans. This isn't really a transport option that we recommend if you're coming from Cancun as it first goes to Playa del Carmen, and then transfers to the colectivos from there.
- Drive Yourself Using your own car or renting one for your outing is a great idea if you're traveling as a group. This allows you to have a lot of flexibility when it comes to departing times from your hotel as well as from the park. Getting to the park from Cancun is quite easy – simply take the 307 Highway, and you will see the prominent Xel Ha signs. Parking is plentiful and free.
