Using The Tools That Are In Your Hand

Author: Robert Smith

In Exodus 4:2, God asks Moses, "What is in your hand?" In this verse, the item in Moses’ hand is a staff that God gave him the power to turn into a serpent to prove to the people of Egypt that the Lord had spoken to him. Too often, we see things that we have to our advantage as being too ordinary to be important. As proven out in the bible verse, these things can often be used as instruments for God.

The internet has become commonplace in the lives of most of the people in this country. It is used to communicate with others, enjoy various types of entertainment, gain knowledge and perform various business activities including buying and selling goods. Regardless of the part the internet plays in your life, it can be used as an instrument for God. There are many ways to share the word of God with others online and reach out to those in your circle of friends and family as well as those on the other side of the world who have not had the opportunity to know God. Some ways to use the internet as an instrument of God are:

  • Providing videos of church sermons
  • Setting up Christian discussion groups on Facebook
  • Start a blog where you post articles about God
  • Share hymns and other Christian music

These are just some examples of the ways you can use as an everyday tool to make others aware of God and how he can impact their lives. Many people and organizations have found that those who never attend church are more likely to discuss God online. Depending on your talents or other tools, you may find various ways to take advantage of the internet to bring the word of God to those who are unwilling to seek it in person.

A vehicle is another possession that many people have and take for granted each day. A car is a necessity to most people rather than a luxury. There are a number of ways that you can use your vehicle as an instrument of God including:

  • Taking the word of God to those who are confined to their homes
  • Provide transportation to church for those who want to worship but who are unable to drive themselves
  • Deliver food, groceries, medicine to those who are sick or elderly
  • Donate a vehicle that is no longer needed to provide either transportation or a home to those who are less fortunate

Brent Phillips second baptist

After losing his position as pastor in an Aspen Church, Brent Phillips was experiencing feelings of betrayal and a loss of spirituality. He felt that he had been called to preach but was now without a church. When his mother posed the same question to him that God asked of Moses in Exodus 4:2 "What is in your hand?" he realized that he had a degree in software engineering and a video camera that he could use in the service of God. He launched a website, uploaded digital messages, and had a huge impact on countless people. We can follow his example and use the tools we have available to teach and follow the word of God.
