First Ever Indian Film Festival to be organised in Nairobi
Nairobi 23rd April 2019: Indian Cinema is all set to mesmerize the audiences in Kenya with the first ever Indian Film Festival in Nairobi from 10th – 15th August 2019.
The Indian Film Festival Kenya 2019 shall be organised by Indian Film Festival Worldwide (IFFW) under the aegis of the High Commission of India in Kenya and shall witness the presence of a number of acclaimed film makers and celebrities from the Indian film industry.
The festival will showcase some path breaking films in different Indian Languages and shall be curated by Captain Rahul Bali who has successfully curated Indian Film Festivals across the globe in countries like Vietnam, Russia, Poland & Hungary in the recent years.
The mega event, which shall be the first of its kind in Kenya is expected to further strengthen the friendly relations between India and Kenya via cinema. It shall be a great platform to foster dialogue for bilateral relations between both countries to boost trade, commerce and tourism in addition to promoting art, culture, music and films.
The Curator of IFFW Captain Rahul Bali, was in Nairobi to officially announce the first ever Indian Film Festival Kenya. He called upon H.E. Sh. Rahul Chhabra, The High Commissioner of India in Kenya to take his blessings for the festival. Captain Bali also met up with Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Kenya Film Classification Board and Mr. Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission to discuss about their collaboration with the Indian Film Festival Kenya.
Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua said "It is an honour to host Captain Rahul Sudesh Bali, the curator for Indian Film Festival Worldwide in Nairobi to discuss collaboration in hosting the first ever Indian Film Festival Kenya later in the year. India and Kenya have strong bilateral ties as well as commerce and cultural agreements. We look forward to collaborate with this festival to further the existing ties through films and cinema."
The Indian Film Festival Kenya is an endeavour to create euphoria about India & Kenya via cinema. The festival is aimed at promoting Kenya as a preferred destination for film making amongst the Indian film makers and the festival would be promoted extensively in both India and Kenya. It will feature some of the finest Indian movies from different film industries across India and shall offer excellent opportunities to the relatively young Kenyan film industry to interact and learn newer techniques from the Indian Film Industry.
Kenya Film Commission CEO Timothy Owase said, "We are extremely happy to know that the first ever Indian Film Festival is being organised in Nairobi in August this year.
