There is no one set criteria for all the wings, branches, and posts of the Indian army. While some ask you for being more than 5 feet 10 inch long, others demand that an excellent educational background. Some positions ask to be filled by those having just higher education, while others ask for candidates having at least a second-grade post-graduation. So to avoid any unnecessary confusion or dismay at later stages, its better that you check the all the physical, medical, and educational criteria for the post you wish to apply for.
2. Get Your Documents Right
No army wing accepts any discrepancy in documents before or after the candidate’s application process. When or if found one, any necessary action could be taken at any time in the future against the candidate. That’s why it’s important that you double-check all and all the documents that will be presented to on your behalf to justify your candidature.
3. Know About P.S.C and S.S.C Positions in Detail
Both PSC (Permanent Service Commission) and SSC( Short-Service Commission) have their separate criteria, benefits, and job profile. In all the three wings of the Indian army, separate posts are announced every year separately for both the commissions. If joined under SSC, an officer could only serve for a period of 14 years. The span can be extended further depending upon various factors. But if you are thinking for the long term, then PSC should be your call. One must study in detail about both the commissions to make the right choice.
4. Understand the Physical and Medical Tests Clearly
As stated already, every post in the army has a different set of physical and medical test procedures, carried on to ensure that the applicant full-fills all the necessary criteria. Like in SSB, the physical tests are conducted to test both physical and mental abilities of a candidate. While some positions put the applicant to be tested against brutal running and other physical tasks. For some positions, it is necessary that the applicant should have a 6/6 vision, while some allow for corrected ones. The official advertisement for any post clearly states and talks about all the physical and medical parameters. That’s why it is important you only refer to such official announcements, instead of referring to a third-party platform.
